Online physiotherapy for children

For children, most physiotherapy happens between sessions, in play, at home, with parents. Online pediatric physiotherapy is built around that. Your child's physiotherapist watches your child move in their own space, and coaches you to turn exercises into games you can repeat every day. Sessions available in English, Telugu, and Hindi, and you can ask for a female or male physiotherapist.

Written by Dr. V. B. Rajendra Prasad, MPT, licensed in the US and UK. 20 years of clinical experience.

Why online physiotherapy works for children

Children often move more naturally at home than in an unfamiliar clinic, which helps the physiotherapist see what they can really do

Parents learn the techniques hands-on in every session, and practice led by parents is a big part of how children progress

Your physiotherapist uses your child's own toys, furniture and stairs, so practice fits into daily routines

Families in smaller towns get access to pediatric physiotherapy that may not be available nearby

3

Progress and adjust

Your physiotherapist tracks your improvement each session and adjusts exercises as you get stronger. You also receive exercises to practice between sessions.

When in-person care is better

See your pediatrician first if your child loses skills they already had, has seizures, suddenly stops using an arm or leg, or has a fever with a painful joint or refuses to walk. Some children with complex needs benefit from an in-person assessment before or alongside online sessions. Your physiotherapist will tell you honestly if online is not the right fit.

Frequently asked questions

Can a young child really do physiotherapy over video?
Yes, with a parent as the hands. The physiotherapist observes, guides and coaches, and the parent does the handling and play. For babies and toddlers this is how much of the work happens anyway, and you finish each session knowing exactly what to practise.
How are sessions planned around a child's attention?
Sessions follow your child's attention and energy. Younger children often work in short bursts of play, with time in between for the physiotherapist to coach you. The format changes as your child grows.
Can I ask for a female physiotherapist for my daughter?
Yes. You can ask for a female or male physiotherapist, and sessions are available in English, Telugu and Hindi.
Do we still need a pediatrician?
Yes. Your child's pediatrician remains in charge of their medical care. Physiotherapy works alongside it, and your physiotherapist will tell you if anything they see needs a doctor's review.
